Photography – Highgate Cemetery (Part 1)

September 2018 – Highgate Cemetery, London

Another search of listed buildings across London led me to taking a trip to Highgate Cemetery. It’s one of those places in London that I have always been aware of, but I had never taken the chance to visit it.

The cemetery, itself, is separated into two areas, the West Cemetery and the East Cemetery. The West opened first, back in 1839, and is now only accessible through guided tours. The East opened in 1854, as part of a planned expansion, and is opened to the public, daily, for a small fee. Due to the need to book in advance for a tour, I decided to start with the East Cemetery, so I could take my time exploring, while also finding the tombs and graves that have been grade listed.
