Time to start one of three new Wizarding World-related blog series…
World of Wizardry will be posted on, hopefully, the second Saturday of each month and will document the contents of my World of Wizardry Geek Gear Box I received the previous month. Each month, I will post a photo of the full contents, while noting, in detail, my favourite items from the box.
I have been subscribed to the World of Wizardry Geek Gear Box for over a year now and it is one of the reasons why my collection of Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts merchandise has quickly grown in the past year.
World of Wizardry Geek Gear Box Subscription – December 2018…
The contents of this month’s box include some of my favourite items I have received from my subscription to Geek Gear so far.
Contents for December 2018:
- An A3 Poster of Newt’s Magical Case of Beasts, illustrated by Kevin Cantwell
- An Officially Licenced Fantastic Beasts product – Niffler Keyring
- The final two Wizardry Cookbook Recipes – Custard Creams and Butterscotch Cupcakes
- The Knight Bus’ Shrunken Head
- Hogwarts Champions – Triwizard Tournament Print
- Caeruleum Wand, designed by Noble Wands (Length – 13 and a Half Inches, Core – Unicorn Hair, Wood Type – English Oak)
- Hogwarts Houses T-Shirt
The illustrated poster of all of Newt’s creatures is absolutely stunning; the colour and the detail is simply outstanding. While the creatures included are only those that featured in the original movie, this poster will be framed and hung up in my flat at some point. I can only hope Geek Gear include beautiful illustrated prints from Kevin Cantwell in future boxes.
One of my favourite minor characters from the Harry Potter Film Series has to be the Shrunken Head, voiced by Lenny Henry, in the Prisoner of Azkaban. The character made what was an already brilliant scene even funnier. Now, thanks to Geek Gear, I own my very own Shrunken Head. While it has not been unboxed in the photo above, the design is certainly faithful to the movie, and I cannot wait to hang it up!
My final pick for my favourite items, from this month’s box, has to be the beautifully designed wand. This one has to be one of my favourite of all the wands I have been lucky enough to receive in my subscription. While it is a stunning design, the very fact it came with a full description of length, core and wood type added to the magic of the design.
The hint for next month’s box was a cute illustration of Hedwig, carrying a Hogwarts Letter and I am looking forward to seeing what item I receive!
